The Bluetooth SIG, short for Special Interest Group gave a nod to Bluetooth 5 this week. It is said to be a new spec that promised to offer some great better performance enhancements than its predecessor.
This is the latest version of the ubiquitous wireless technology. This latest version offers twice the speed than its previous version, also the four times of the range and it’s a lot more in terms of capacity even. All of the bumps are very well targeted at this version of Bluetooth device in order to increase the importance as a standard for the overall connected home. This update also includes some more fixed designed so as to limit the interference when connected with other wireless technologies or gadgets.
What was shortcoming of this one? Well, audio, of course. It looks like; they have forgotten to focus on Audio this time. It is bit surprising, perhaps, but the Smart phone manufacturers are now focussing on the death of standard audio jack on the devices like iPhone 7. This specification, however, is typically about the internet of things. According to the official release, the Company said that, “Bluetooth will continue to embrace the technological advancement and will push the unlimited potential of the IoT.”
